Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Les Grandes Emmerdeuses

Seeing Tim (Monster! International) Paxton posting some Cine.Zine.Zone covers (wow!) on Facebook made me dig out the only issue I've ever found...Yep, FRANCO FILMO IV!  I wish I had more to peruse, but as I was packing this one to a new home I saw an image that immediately ranks as one of my favorite Eurotrash Cinema images!

This.

Lina Lina Lina...as I was flipping through I knew right where it came from, the opening of Les Grandes Emmerdeuses! Lina starts off this oddball, though utterly impenetrable to my monolingual self, film by talking to the viewer with a "hello!" and away we go.  I've long thought of Lina as an actress that could, and would, do most anything, and comedy is no challenge for her.  The opening of the film, even though I can't follow along, is a classic.
The screens are presented small since my copy is quite beat up, but for a better look, click the images!

Let's take a peek in to Lina's window and see what we can find.  I bet there is someone waiting to say...
"Hello!"

After chatting us up, we meet Lina's partner in crime-and many other things, Pamela Stanford.  Yes, Pamela Stanford with that CaaaRAZY hairdo!
See what I mean...CaaaRAZY!

The girls rub each other...they chat, but the scene just ends. And that is what is great about the Black and White image from Cine.Zine.Zone!  I wonder if this is included in different edits, or something captured by a still photographer on the scene?  I don't care, it is great.  So....

THANK YOU JESS!
And what post about this movie is complete without a topless woman in a cat mask chatting with Lina?

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images -Strip Nude For Your Killer

This entry in to the Favorite European Trash Cinema Images is a cheat of sorts...but I could not find one little shot that perfectly summarizes the ending of the Andrea Bianchi classic of UltraTrash. Is it the weird plot line that I love?  Well, sure.  Is it the great opening scene that sets a whole lot of bad behavior into motion?  Yep!  But the ending, the post wrap up scene is unforgettable.  Major spoiler here, so if you haven't seen the film, stop reading and go do it now!  Here...go hit play.

So...you are still here.
After we learn that all this insanity was caused by an abortion gone wrong our long suffering heroine played by the beautiful Edwige Fenech is lounging in bed with Nino Castelnuovo as they go over the details.  Now, this stuff is really all on Castelnuovo's character Carlo.  He is a total bastard through the entire film, so perhaps this is where Fenech strikes back?  Well, the back is involved...back door that is.  So, Carlo realizes that in order to prevent any further need for abortions in his life he should simply express his love in a different way.
Which leads to this... (note...I've taken liberty with the dialog for our little Cine-Strip of the day!)
Easily one of the most jaw dropping finales to a Giallo I've seen.  Not family fare, but what a twist!

Carlo: Phew, can't believe we survived all that...all over a pregnancy...
Carlo:  So, I had this idea how we could still have lots of fun and not get stalked by a motorcycle helmeted horror!  What do you think of this idea...
Magda: Oh Carlo...you have been so wonderful to me...choking me when I speak out of turn, so of course it is OK-and if you say it is fine...well, that worked for the other girls.  Whats up?
Carlo: Well, I think that your going to like this, no chance of a blue light drenched back alley abortionist sending you on a path of rage to my front door!    I'm just kidding...take us to the credits Mr. Director...with a smile no less!

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images -Girls In The Night Traffic

I just love this oddball Jess Franco film and discussed it a few years ago right here.
Not only is this very funny, this shot just says it all about female sexuality and the issue of sapphic companionship in the cinema du trash very well!

I give you...GIRLS IN THE NIGHT TRAFFIC, one of many great moments in the cinema of Jess Franco.
  Awesome eh?

And hey...it can't all be for the ladies who love ladies...

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Wild Wild Planet

Keep blasting!!!  My favorite European Trash Cinema image of the day is from the always groovy, super awesome and megaultrafun WILD WILD PLANET, directed by Antonio Margheriti.  His SF films are loaded with great images, but this scene with fire blasters and body molds is my favorite sequence of them all!  I saw this film for the first time when it was released on Laserdisc, but I can only imagine my reaction if I was looking at it as a kid!  It still makes me go OOOOOOOOOOOOhWAH!

The scene!!

The Trailer!!

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Slaughter Hotel

Nothing says EUROPEAN TRASH CINEMA like Klaus Kinski. In a white doctors coat. In a mental hospital loaded with nymphomaniacs. SURROUNDED BY MEDIEVAL WEAPONRY.  The joy that is Slaughter Hotel is never ending!

And a little bonus Klaus Kinski!

And how can you not love this collection of crazy nymphos with a suit of armor in the foreground?

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Night of the Sorcerers

I love NIGHT OF THE SORCERERS! Amando De Ossorio's jungle action film always makes me smile and I find myself returning to it as often, if not more often, than several of the Blind Dead entries!  Be sure to check out the NotS tribute site for lots more!  Here is the leopard lady and her spooky voodoo pals!!

An extra shot for my friend Bryan Senn, who demolishes the film in his otherwise excellent (heh) book Drums O' Terror - Voodoo in the Cinema.  Buy it!  Just remember, he really loves Voodoo Black Exorcist...

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Apocalipsis sexual

Come for the Lina, stay for the Ajita...and other mayhem. And there is lots of mayhem, especially if you seek out the full blast version of the weirdest Carlos Aured sex film ever made...Apocalipsis sexual from 1982.  This berserk film features Lina Romay and Ajita Wilson among a group of degenerate scumbags that take over a villa and hold the owners hostage.  You'll shout "That does not go in there!!" several times, but Lina turns in a killer performance and Ajita Wilson always brings the film up to another level with her presence.  If you are like me, you'll like it naughty...you'll like this nasty bit of Eurotrash Cinema.

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Lady Frankenstein

A crazy stomach virus attacked my home this weekend...after everyone else was in bed I needed some healing of the Eurotrash Cinema variety.  I popped in the Steve Carver/Joe D'Amato film THE ARENA and had a blast seeing this for the first time.  While a g-string clad (and well oiled) Pam Grier was restoring my vigor, what REALLY made me smile was to see SARA BAY listed in the credits. Yes indeed, Rosalba Neri as the taskmistress that isn't afraid to take off her chain link belt to a servant is a classic.
And that brings me to Lady Frankenstein-one of my favorite Rosalba Neri performances.
Monster. Neri. Lady Frankenstein. A classic!

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Bacanais na Ilha das Ninfetas

Eurotrash Icon Oswaldo de Oliveira did a pair of Women In Prison films in 1981/82 that got excellent US DVD releases as BARE BEHIND BARS (a real favorite of mine) and AMAZON JAIL. I had no idea there was a third starring Zilda Mayo called Bacanais na Ilha das Ninfetas.  Yep, evil wardress...nude frolics...it is all there. But no matter how great and outrageous the more known films are, they don't have Crotch Coiffure!
Wow!  What a great European Trash Cinema moment even though it is from South America....  And while this is going on the various guards and thugs are getting bossed around! Just surreal and oddly brilliant.

Favorite European Trash Cinema Images - Exorcism / Sadist of Notre Dame

The filmography of Jess Franco could provide plenty of favorite European Trash Cinema images, but one of my favorite of his films features the director himself as a troubled (alright, that may put it mildly) excommunicated priest acting out his bizarre and sadistic fantasies entitled Exorcism (and later re-edited in to The Sadist of Notre Dame / Demoniac).  A look both backwards and forwards for Franco, this was where his work with Robert De Nesle ended and he returned to Eurocine full of the kind of piss and vinegar that would spark an incredibly rampant period of production that would have Franco going from leather clubs to women's prisons (where shirts are not allowed!), in to the wilds of The Most Dangerous Game and much much more!
Sometimes weird, sometimes groovy and more than a little bizarre, this image of Jess Franco as Vogel  and Monica Swinn is a perfect encapsulation of one of Franco's most re-edited film, and one of his best.
