Juan Zanotto YOR sketch
I love YOR as any long time Tomber knows and here is an AMAZING piece that I stumbled over at Comic Art Fans.
Beautiful!!
Go and enjoy some of my YOR ramblings and then stare lovingly at this piece of art. Excuse me, I need to wipe.

Yor - The Hunter From The Future! A Poster Odyssey

Yep, I'm just a big old geek for Yor-Hunter From The Future. YOR WEEK has come and gone, but the other night I found myself unfolding some posters in my collection and pulled out the jumbo 4-sheet from France for the masterwork of cinema we know as Yor. I found myself walking around the room and snapping photos of favorite bits. So, I figure I'd share them. Just a bunch of details that catch my eye, this awesome art from Philippe Druillet is one of my favorite possessions, especially at the awe inspiring size of the edition I have.
Click the images for big versions...and yes, I am just this much a geek for YOR!

Ka-Laa looks fantastic eh?

Yor vs. The Tentacles of Terror!
Some time ago I dedicated a lot of my blogging time to Il Mondo di Yor and found some original comics, posters and was even lucky enough to score a review of the infamous 4 hour television version by Ballistic Blood Bullets blogger Paul Cooke. Well, you can read that review HERE if you missed it. Thanks to a groovy Facebook pal I was pointed to a subtitled (!!) version that looks great and will be the most exciting view of the year I would wager. I'm a huge fan of this nifty monster battling sequence that did not appear in the exported theatrical version-so I thought it would be fun to share! DIG IT BABY...it is Yor's World-he's the man!
Just another day in Yor's World...he's the man. But this is a world full of danger! And Corrine Clery in a hot cavegirl outfit.
"Well Ka-Laa, that slurping sound did not emanate from MY loincloth..."
BOO!
Holy Pigozzi, I get to eat the guy this whole planet is named after...YES!!
I am UROTSUKIDOJI!!
AIEEEEE....don't you want to eat Yor? He's the man!! Oh wait...cavegirl outfit? Too much?
"I might have formed a different strategy if I'd noticed that axe hanging from Yor's bel..."
"DAMMIT!!"
"Fine! That hurt, but would you whack the beautiful cavebabe...I don't think so you damn talking bo..."
"Nevermind."
"I've got a few arms left and you are going down blondie...you totally messed up that Captain America movie and even on Yor's World we know about Jack Kirby!"
Ka-Laa gonna knock you out....yeah mama said Knock You OOOOOUT!
"But...but...Fabrizio De Angelis didn't produce this...not the eye!!"
Bloop.
I can't even joke, Corinne Clery in action!!
Let's just sing Ka-Laa's world from now on!
"Awww...Yor alright pal."
"Eye will not be forgotten...ARRRRGH! Some doofus named Z shall forever love me...."

My Thanks... YOR Thanks!! Visions Of Yor
Thanksgiving! Always a favorite holiday, and so much to be thankful for. Kids? Check...amazing every minute of every day! Family? Wonderful-all ready for the Turkey Dinner. Blogging? Hey, I even had a real life person come and visit me at SuperMegaFest. Fantastic.
And friends? Oh yes... I'm thrilled to see everyone doing so well.
And of course...I have to give thanks for YOR-HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE. I have my copy ready for Turkey Day viewing. Can. Not. Wait.
But it doesn't stop there. I'm a lucky fella-I have several incredibly talented friends and not only do they tolerate my...well, eccentric nature-but they even inspire me with these visions of YOR.
Check 'em out and have a great Thanksgiving.
First we have Neil Vokes doing an amazing action pose in classic Reb Brown mode. I love this... it looks like a fantastic large panel that leads into an incredible two page splash of Yor beating down dinosaurs AND John Steiner's RoboFlunkies.

Oh man... I'm a big fan of Ade's work. This is a quick sketch that just POPS off the page with his distinct style. Tons of depth and Yor looks like he will stomp and stab you silly. If you are from the darkest past...BEWARE! If you think you are coming from the future to dominate Yor and his friends...RUN! This guy will kick your ass! Adrian Salmon presents...YOR-THE DOMINATOR!
And of course...the infamous YOR joke ad. I fell for it of course, because I just love YOR. Click it for the big version and don't you just NEED to see Neil take on a real Yorian tale? I sure would!

More YOR because these are the Vokes folks!!
Yor week, ah what a memory. I'm on a peplum kick right now thanks to the recently released Mill Creek 50 pack of muscular mayhem-but nobody beats Yor and his fuzzy boots. Ever!
At the end of the YorFest I posted up a great bit of artwork from comics uber-guy Neil Vokes that was done as an April Fools Joke (that I feel ALL THE WAY on, I love Yor enough to believe this could happen!!) HERE. But you know me, I have to keep my Yor's World Shrine a goin', and asked to procure Neil's original art. For those of you that don't know, Senor V has taken on many of the comic greats (Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Tarzan... and of course CONGORILLA baby, the man knows his monkey mayhem) and also produced one of the 80's black and white booms most memorable runs with Eagle (which you can get the first issue of in e-book format here). So, a YOR item was a must. Besides that, the guy is a gent/scholar and tolerates my faux hate for Mario Bava with style. You can learn a lot more about what he and his crew of merry men are up to at THE BLACK FOREST.NET If you like horror (and I would think you do if you are reading this), you need to check out The Black Forest and The Wicked West (watch for part 2 coming soon). And if you say to me... "but I don't read comic books" I double suggest these, a great blend of art and good horror storytelling.
When the package arrived I couldn't wait to get it framed up and into the proper place in the Yor collection (next to the giant Druillet poster of course)-but Neil also included some roughs that were totally fun to look at, including a great alternate ad that I'd love to see a finished version of. It shows off the Vokes ability to do martial arts (not that Reb Brown could do a kick like this of course) and features more Yor in battle action. Enjoy these, and I bet this will bring a smile to Edoardo Margheriti's face, he was inside the big dinosaur suit sketched here! A Tomb It May Concern tip of the hat to Miles Gunter as well of course...any friend o' Yor is a pal o' mine.
As always, I added big clickable images, the thumbnails don't do any justice to them. Click...enjoy! And remember, we may live in it, there are artistic representations of it, but it's YOR'S WORLD, he's the man!

Yor a Fool Mr. Z...the final Yor post (for now)
Ah...Yor week was a joy, thanks for coming along and I hope m(Y)ore awareness of this great film has been spread.
What follows is an April Fool's Day joke that only I seemed to be sucked into (I was ready to try and help get Edoardo Margheriti to do an introduction since he has fond memories of the film, I wanted to lobby to be damn sure that DAMN TALKING BOX was included..etc). Artwork by good old Neil Vokes in co-operation with his writing pal Miles Gunter. I love the art, I gots to have that on my wall!
Enjoy...the Yor comics that will never be. Click the pic and soak in the magnificence of a good April Fools Voke(s).

For Yor Ears Only! YOR WEEK RETURNS!
First...an apology of sorts. Sorry that this took awhile, I had a severe medical issue arise (you think anything else could overpower YOR??)...but I'm getting back underway here. So, without further delay... get yer headphones and pop an (Oliver) Onion in your mouth-swish it around and prep Yor Ears!
The DeAngelis Brothers are a rock solid pair of Italian soundsmiths, ranging from classic scores like Torso, Keoma and Man Called Blade to the fun kill em all tunes of Blastfighter, Alien 2:Sulla Terra, 2019:After the Fall of N.Y. amongst others. They also LOVE to record songs as Oliver Onions!
The OOs have quite the legacy of strangeness behind them, and none so great as some of what appears on the soundtrack for YOR of course.
Lookit that album cover...I hope it sold for a huge price on ebay! The album version was released on Southern Cross records, but SC had a nice surprise in store for the later CD re-issue, which was a lot more tracks for the Yor fan to enjoy.
What follows below are the CD coverings for the Yor disc where you can stare in awe at press photos, read track listings and if you go alllll the way under those pics and click the magic link and get that little item.
Well, you can sing along with the crew...because in YOR'S WORLD...HE's THE MAN!
It's Yor's World!

Yor Oughta Be In Pictures...The Yor / Henga Comics of Zanotto
Yor week continues with some images that I've found from various sources detailing the comic book root of Yor's big adventure across the silver screen. I've searched for some time for Yor in comics, never realizing that the original title was actually HENGA, and was redubbed Yor for the Italian market. Thanks to Hayato for the information, and Team Yor-O-Trash will redouble the effort to find complete comics to view of this saga. Until then...enjoy these images and we present them in honor of Juan Zanotto, Henga's creator whose body of work looks ripe for even more filmic fury (oh Edoardo.....take a peek at Falka-it would be perfect with girls, guns and All Terrain Vehicles!)An interesting thing to note for Yor fans, it appears that Zanotto worked with film maker Russell Mulcahey on the storyboards for Highlander 2, and no matter how good/bad the film turned out, the connection actually makes sense with some really interesting and wacky sequences.
Mr. Zanotto passed away last year, and though I may be a latecomer, I'm looking forward to experiencing as much of his work as possible. So strike up your Oliver Onions and enjoy Yor's World in sequential images!
