I've often wondered just how many Jess Franco films get watched in a year. While I'm sure Female Vampire (or whatever is released during the year in question) is probably at the top of the chart, when you look at his filmography you see so many films that just don't get viewed. So, leave it to Bob (The Videooze) Sargent and the rest of the crew at Eurotrash Paradise to track Franco films. We are in the stretch for this year and I'd actually love to see 100 unique films watched this year if possible. Can this small cadre of cinephiles (or cinefools if you will) do it? Well, we need YOUR help. Do you need an excuse to watch a Franco film? Now you have one. If you have a title not on the list below then just watch, join the ETP and comment so we can add it to the list. New members are always welcome (though we do have you request membership at yahoo-we get some crazy spam as you might imagine)-and 100 unique films by Franco by one group of people would be a great thing to share with your grandchildren.
Sort of...maybe just share with us.
Click and JOIN US in the Franco Pool, the water is warm...probably because Senn keeps staying in the tub longer than most peoples bladder can bear.
Be like Bob and watch when the kids are sleeping, be like Bryan (renowned author of A Year Of Fear) Senn and watch them in the tub. Be like me and watch them whenever nobody is around and preferably with headphones. Just watch Franco films and report 'em. If any of my fellow bloggers would share the battle cry we would all be thankful. In a year that sees Franco getting full on retrospectives, let us all do our part!
Do I need to bribe you with Lina photos? I will!

I've just added the 1986 alternate to FURY IN THE TROPICS [MUJERES ACORRALADAS-OUTLAW WOMEN].
Thank you Robert! Much appreciated and if anyone here has not seen Mr M's blog, go now!

or watch them like me...when I'm awake! :0)
I offer up 2 Franco films I recently watched: The Perverse Mirror and The Story Of O.
Joe D
Hey Joe, I'll add 'em to the list, but I need one of two things. Either pop over to the Eurotrash Paradise and post about them or just put a few word about each here in the comments. I want to compile all the comments when the time is up.
Thanks!
Added my viewing of White Cannibal Queen from last night. Comments for ETP for the record.
I did a little back tracking and watched White Cannibal Queen even
though it was already on our list. I just love this production.
Sabrina Siani nude? Check! Jess Franco insulting Sabrina Siani as the
stupidest girl amongst stupid girls ("look at my hand..."
"ehh...OK.")! The smallest fire ever worshipped! Al Cliver with his
arm behind his back for 70 minutes-and getting into one fisted fist
fights!! That OH-OH-OHHHHHH music. The white cannibals colorfully
made up and the fact that one of them speaks funny English!!
"You will die... You will CRY!!!"
And can you resist the scenes of cannibalism. Shot in SLOOOOOOOOOW
Motion that makes Thriller look like Billy Chong fisticuffs? I can't.
A case of something from nothing that entertains me, Cannibals is a
tiny movie. Tiny budget, tiny ideas, tiny performances that add up in
to big fun. I've had Spanish VHS tapes, bootlegs galore and mexican
lobbycards of this classic bit of junk. And yes, it is junk. Franco
had no love for the Cannibal films that is for sure, but he manages to
spin one up anyhow.
The Perverse Mirror is a masterpiece of low budget high idea filmmaking. Franco works in a kind of psychic shorthand in this film about sisters, one of whom (Lina Romay in the version I saw) kills herself on her sisters wedding day, then returns through the magic of mirrors to haunt her sister, forcing her to kill the men she loves or at least has sex with. There are hardcore inserts cut into the film at odd times, I don't know if Franco did this or not but I hear tell there are many other versions of this film some with another actress playing Lina's part and some with no hardcore footage. This is a great film, like Godard making a horror/fantasy/ sex film. And it ends with a brilliant arcetypal cinematic image, a true Franco touch.
The Story of O is a unique film, it has almost nothing to do with the book of the same name. It is not really hardcore but extremely erotic. Like the sexual fantasies of a genius. OK synopsis time: A beautiful young American girl is on vacation in the Tropics. From the window of her hotel room she can see the balcony of an apartment across the way. There a couple make love, she sees them, they see her, she gets naked and pleasures herself while watching. Later the woman from across the way comes over to the American girl's apartment, knocks on the door and says "Come with Me" in Spanish. They leave, they are both basically naked walking through the hotel. Back at the other apartment, a seduction unfolds, in the midst fo their lovemaking, the man enters, he begins fucking his girlfriend while kissing the American girl, eventually fucking her as well. This is one hot scene! and it goes on for like 20 minutes! The story goes on , jealousy rears it's ugly head, the American girl is drugged by the other girl, then she brings another couple in and the man tries to rape the unconcious American, he can't get it up so he starts to cry and the two other women baby him, comfort him with sex. It's out there. They return later and tie the girl up, except now they look like the characters from Clive Barker's HellRaiser. I think Barker got inspired by this. They torture and kill the American girl and then her lover returns with a shotgun and kills them. This film also ends with an unforgettable image, The lover carrying the dead American girl into the sea.
Thanks VERY much Joe, added up!
Saw and enjoyed Bloody Moon, but mention it here as I caught some shit from "non-torrent" types over on eurotrash cinema. I'm not trying to shut any small company down, but you see this stuff any way you can, no?
Anyway, standard JF film. Lots of 80's hair, some tits, and a soundtrack that sounds like Pink Floyd done by simpletons...
